If you are interested in learning the Art of Blacksmithing, or simply want to sharpen your skills with tips and tricks from a Master Blacksmith, then you will want to enroll in the Basic Blacksmithing Tools Class. The class will be taught by Master Blacksmith Joe Elliott, the owner of Dry Canyon Forge, in Bend.
The Class will cover forging and proper use of tongs, punches, chisels, and a variety of basic tools of the Blacksmith. All materials and tools will be supplied. All students are expected to bring their own gloves and eye protection.
Joe has been forging metal for over 30 years. With much of his ironwork, the forging processes are apparent. For instance, all work is hand-forged iron; featuring traditional joinery techniques such as collaring, tenons and riveting that are a celebrated part of each design. With hand-forging, the artist is able to add a personal touch, which means that each piece will be a unique rare work of art that will be used and enjoyed forever.
